ADDITIONAL RIDER SAFETY INFORMATION
Rider Safety Information
The weather in Forrest and the Otways can change quickly. Please ensure that you check the weather forecast and come suitably prepared before riding. The Forrest MTB Club members recommend using the "Weather AU" app as it uses BOM info and covers Forrest.
The Trails are graded according to their difficulty, in accordance with international standards. Be sure to choose a trail that matches your fitness, ability and equipment. Remember to ride within your limits.
Mountain biking can be hazardous. The trails in Forrest may include unmarked obstacles and hazards such as sticks, rocks, logs, trees, steep inclines, drop-offs and loose surfaces. Riders attempting these tracks do so at their own risk.
Mobile Phone Coverage
Mobile phone coverage (particularly Telstra) is fairly good throughout Forrest, and it is advised that you carry a mobile on you at all times.
Helmets and Clothing
Helmets are mandatory to wear in Australia. Full face helmets approved to Australian bicycle riding standards are compulsory for all downhill mountain bikers. Other protective equipment such as gloves, body armour and protective eyewear are also recommended.
Shared Trails
Most of trails across the Forrest network are shared amongst bush walkers, trail runners, mountain bike riders and horse riders. We ask that all trail users be aware of horses and please share the trails
